Hiring: Back End Developer

What you will do:

We are currently seeking a Backend Engineer to join our game development team. In this role at Indelible Learning, you’ll be at the center of services that power our online games and related products that reach players across the country and the world.

You will develop highly available, secure logins (for learners of all ages) at scale, both synchronous and asynchronous services, persistent connection services, and other systems to support individual, multiplayer, and tournament-style sessions.

From design, implementation, and deployment you’ll be able to shape the services and features that drive the future of our products. We’re looking for a skilled, dependable innovator who works well with others, relishes a challenge, and enjoys finding creative solutions.

What we are looking for:

Familiarity with:

  • PHP/Python/Java
  • Modern SQL (e.g., MariaDB)
  • Backend frameworks
  • MVC architecture
  • Secure login, integration with SSO
  • Secure records
  • Scalability with one or more cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
  • Developing friendly APIs that we can use to connect with our frontends

We prefer experience with:

  • Sensitive records from student children in a school setting
  • COPPA, CalOPPA compliance
  • FERPA compliance

We prefer experience with, or at least no aversion to using regularly:

  • Git (version control)
  • Discord (collaboration)
  • Trello (task management)

It would be nice to have:

  • A passion for data visualization
  • A passion for games, especially learning games
  • Experience with Unity

  • 30 min interview with a member of our talent team to assess culture fit
  • 30 min interview with the technical team to assess technical skill
  • Final interview with the executive team
